Campus Business (September 10): Joe Ajaero, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President, is under scrutiny for alleged terrorism financing, according to Dennis Amachree, a former Assistant Director of the Department of State Services (DSS).

Amachree, speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, asserted that Ajaero should not be allowed to leave Nigeria due to an ongoing investigation. He stated, “There is an ongoing investigation. He (Ajaero) cannot leave the country,” adding, “Let him remain in the country while investigations continue.”

The former DSS official’s comments follow Ajaero’s recent arrest at Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Monday. The NLC President was detained while attempting to travel to the United Kingdom for official duties and was released late Monday night after spending the day in custody.

Amachree elaborated on the allegations, saying, “For terrorism financing, which he (Ajaero) has been accused of and which is under investigation, he cannot leave the country. Even if he is leaving the country, where is he going?”

He also referenced a connection to another individual under suspicion: “Remember, the main man (Andrew Wynne) that was suspected of financing terrorism is his tenant, and I don’t think Ajaero is going to go to London without talking to that person because he is in London running his mouth.”

The former DSS director suggested that allowing Ajaero to travel could lead to complications, drawing a parallel to a recent incident: “Joe Ajaero has a terrorism case to answer, and he is not above the law.”

This situation continues to develop as authorities investigate the allegations against the NLC President.
